Course Description:

RATIONALE

The module is intended to provide students with an understanding of development for mobile devices with a focus on the constraints of mobile hardware, including interface and networking. Students will learn to integrate input from hardware sensors and work with networked data and services.

AIMS

The aims of the module are:
1.    To provide students with an understanding of the constraints of mobile platforms
2.    To give students knowledge of the hardware of mobile devices
3.    To introduce students to the overarching issues of mobile application development
4.    To provide students the ability to develop mobile specific user interfaces

Learning Outcomes


On successful completion of this module, a student will be able to:
1.    Analyse and critically discuss how the considerations required by mobile platforms impact software development.
2.    Design and structure the user interface for a mobile application, with clear consideration for the inputs available.
3.    Make use of sound software engineering techniques for the development of the underlying structure of a mobile application.
